About The Event

We are delighted to announce that Femi Oresanya, Principal, HOK will be our speaker for October 2019. Femi will be asking, “Is there still a role for grand gestures of civic architecture?”. Femi will take you on a journey that explores the past and asking will our great buildings continue to be preserved.

Femi will question whether in the 21st Century is there an appetite for grand architecture or will our famous buildings of yesteryear gradually see a decline and or be adapted for other uses? Will we see the viability of investing in great architecture slowly decline? Femi will share a view that emerging nations are shrugging off their past and re-imagining their civic identity by investing in breath taking designs. Femi will close by asking whether our great city’s grand buildings will continue to be re-imagined, bringing an awareness from the past, without knowing what the future holds?

All architecture should always be rooted in its context, however will we continue to see grand gestures in the future?
