The Art of Slow
Time & Location
About The Event
We are delighted to announce John Prevc, ARB, RIBA, Principal Regional Leader for Urban Design, at HOK ‘s London Studio will be sharing his thoughts on “Slow Architecture”.
John will suggest that we are living our lives at a pace that is becoming increasingly unsustainable. Our digital devices are controlling time by overlapping activities which were traditionally disassociated. Our mental and physical well-being is also affected, sadly resulting in societal disorientation and at times even disorder. John believes that the pace of life is also affecting the way we design the spaces we occupy. He also suggests the manner in which, these spaces are being represented by our architecture is impacted upon. John adds his voice on the call for ‘Slow Architecture’, and joining notable others, he suggests we require an architecture that can improve our mental and physical well-being. An architecture that focuses on the essence of placemaking and human enclosure. John will sum up by stating we require an architecture that places the universal human need ahead of personal ego.
