About The Event

Adrian Campbell Founder, changebuilding

We are delighted to announce that Adrian Campbell, will be our Thinking Out Loud guest speaker on Thursday 18th July 2019.

Contributing engineering designs to many of London’s iconic buildings including St Mary’s Axe, Sky Health & Fitness Centre, as well as Carré d’Art-Musée, in Nimes, Adrian Campbell is now the Founder of the collaborative practice, changebuilding.

Adrian is focusing on timber, CLT projects and volumetric housing systems. Interestingly, one of his former projects also includes, Airut, Helsinki. Conceived as a new community dedicated to sustainable living, underpinned by the most advanced technologies, this is the first phase of one of the largest redevelopments in modern Finnish history. Regenerating Helsinki’s Jätkäsaari district from 100 hectares of neglected docklands to a new urban neighbourhood.

Adrian will reflect on his research undertaken twenty years ago into lean construction, sustainability and new manufacturing-led building methods. He will suggest it is digital technology and not construction firms that are already disrupting the industry. With a number of digital supply chain management platforms not previously envisioned, making an impact. Adrian states, “It is not just about more prefabs”.

Rather than simply focusing on delivering efficiency, Adrian will suggest that we must develop ways to ensure that the application of manufacturing-led methods in buildings, should also seek to reduce carbon emissions, manage the planet’s resources, as well as create sustainable communities.
